Introduce the concepts of multiplication
1.      Teacher prepares three baskets with rambutans on table.
2.      Teacher asks pupils to count the total amount of rambutans on the table.
3.      Teacher introduces the concepts of multiplication.

Multiply the groups of objects using concrete and manipulative materials.
      Class Activity
1.      Four hen picture cards will be placed in the white board. The teacher will discuss the method to find the total number of hens legs with the pupils
2.      The teacher will introduce multiplication as repeated addition and write the sentence:
2 + 2 + 2 + 2 =
4 X 2
3.      Referring to the sentence 4 X 2, the teacher will explain that 4 is the number of groups (hen), and 2 is the number of things in each group (legs)
Group Activity
4.      Teacher asks the pupils to sit in group of two.
5.      Teacher gives the problems to each pair
6.      Pupils will complete and paste it on board.

Conclusion of the lesson.
1.      The teacher will lead the class to compare and contrast (4 X 2) and ( 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 )and hence conclude the lesson with the statements :
‘When a number is added repeatedly, it can be replaced by multiplication.’
